Kanchenjunga Region

Kanchenjunga Region

At 8,586 meters (28,169 feet), Kanchenjunga is the third-highest peak in the world. It is located in the eastern Himalayas, on the border between India and Nepal. Its name, which translates to “Five Treasures of Snow,” alludes to its five magnificent peaks, which the inhabitants revere. Due to its severe weather and technical difficulty, Kanchenjunga, which was first climbed by a British team in 1955, is still one of the hardest mountains to reach the summit. The area is a mountaineering and ecological gem because of the variety of wildlife found in the nearby Kanchenjunga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which includes red pandas and snow leopards.
